Privacy Policy
Last updated August 24, 2026
This policy covers the Handyman customer app, handyman app, and dispatcher console. It describes what we collect, why, and the choices you have — plumbing leaks and clogged drains shouldn't come with surprises about your data either.
1. Who we are
Handyman operates a dispatcher-mediated repair marketplace serving Yerevan, Armenia, through a customer mobile app, a handyman mobile app, and a dispatcher web console (together, the “Services”). This policy explains what information we collect through the Services, how we use it, and the choices you have.
For questions about this policy or to exercise any of the rights described below, contact us at privacy@handyman.am.
2. Information we collect
Account information. Name, phone number, and either an email address and password or a Google account identifier, depending on how you sign up. A verified phone number is required for every account so dispatchers and, once a job is assigned, the other party can reach you.
Handyman verification information. If you register as a handyman, we collect your date of birth, address, a government ID or passport photo, and a live selfie used to match against that ID, plus the repair categories you claim skill in. An admin reviews this before you can go online and receive job offers. ID and selfie images are stored encrypted at rest, and access is restricted to the verification workflow — they are not shown to customers or other handymen.
Order information. The repair category, description, photos, service address, and preferred time window you submit when requesting a repair, plus the itemized quote a dispatcher builds for it.
Messages. Chat messages sent through the in-app dispatcher- customer and handyman-customer threads. See Communications below for how these are handled.
Payment information. The payment method you choose (cash, Idram, or bank card) and the resulting transaction records — gross price, commission, and net payout. Card details are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers ourselves.
Materials and receipts. If you're a handyman, the materials you log against a job, including receipt photos required above a set threshold.
Ratings. The star rating and any written review left by a customer or handyman about each other after a job.
Device and usage information. Push-notification tokens, and basic diagnostic data (crashes, app version, device type) used to keep the Services running.
3. How we use this information
- Operate the marketplace — triage and quote orders, and assign a handyman.
- Verify handyman identity and skill categories before allowing them to receive job offers, and re-review on suspension or document expiry.
- Process payments, calculate commission, and reconcile cash-collected jobs.
- Send status, chat, and job-offer notifications.
- Investigate disputes, detect fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service — including attempts to move business off-platform to avoid fees.
- Maintain an audit log of price overrides, verification decisions, and account suspensions.
- Comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
5. Communications
In-app chat is not end-to-end encrypted and is not a private channel between the two participants: every message is logged server-side and visible to dispatchers for dispute resolution, and may be reviewed to detect attempts to circumvent the platform (for example, exchanging outside contact details to arrange future jobs off-platform). Please don't send anything in chat you wouldn't want a dispatcher to read.
6. Data retention
We keep account, order, and payment records for as long as your account is active and afterward for as long as needed to resolve disputes, satisfy tax and accounting obligations, and maintain the audit log described above. Handyman verification documents are retained for the duration of an active or suspended handyman account and for a reasonable period after account closure, in case a dispute or re-verification arises. You can ask us to delete information that we're not otherwise required to keep — see your rights below.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict some of our processing. To exercise any of these, email privacy@handyman.amfrom the address or phone number on your account. We'll need to verify your identity before acting on the request, and some information — like audit-log and transaction records — may need to be retained even after account deletion for legal and accounting reasons.
You can also update most account information directly in the app, and turn off push notifications in your device settings at any time.
8. Security
We restrict access to verification documents to the staff verification workflow, encrypt identity documents at rest, and use industry-standard safeguards for the rest of our infrastructure. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
9. Children's privacy
The Services are intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we'll remove it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Services change. We'll update the “Last updated” date above, and if a change is material we'll make a reasonable effort to notify you in-app before it takes effect.
